The era of online video streaming is getting stronger, as YouTube gathered all its forces to become the top leader of all things video. Google’s extension is becoming increasingly popular among individuals who are offered more variety, more space for advertising, more sections to choose from and more video quality.
YouTube has become so widely acknowledged that now children see cable TV as punishment, whenever their parents forbid them to watch online videos on YouTube and leave them with the remote control instead. A recent report revealed that 57% of parents noticed that their child prefers mobile devices over TV. Furthermore, 58% of children in families with tablets, have their own personal device. When children need to be disciplined, their tablets are taken away and left with TV as their single option.
Watching TV is for most of the children a “punishment”.
This is the level of popularity and reach YouTube has got itself into, making us almost completely forget that once, in the past, we were used to coming home from the office and have dinner in front of our small screen TV. YouTube is cable TV and more than that, as currently, over 300 hours of video are uploaded on YouTube per minute.
The video network offers all diversity in terms of video content and opened paths for advertisers to sell their products as well, as it enhanced its advertising strategies, now allowing for insertion of product information, images and pricing into video ads. According to recent data, the number of advertisers who run video ads on YouTube has increased with no less than 40%. Statistics also reveal that top advertisers have expanded their investment on YouTube ads with more than 60%.
Reports show that YouTube is bigger than any individual US cable network for 18-49 year olds. Official representatives declared that the number of homepage visitors has widened three times over the last year and users spend more time watching videos that are much longer than before. The “watch time” on YouTube has seen a surprising 60% increase last year. This has been declared to be the fastest growth rate in two years.
YouTube is making great steps of improvement on mobile devices as well, as the average watch time for mobile YouTube users is 40 minutes. The video network has become extremely profitable for publishers as well, who are generating six-figure sum profits. The level of profits has been leveraged in the publishing area with more than 50%.
With statistics looking like that, it is clear that YouTube killed the cable TV network stars and left them gazing at the bits of reality that don’t look promising at all for all that is classic TV. In an era where children (who used to be most drawn to television) see watching TV as punishment, YouTube has the greatest chances to become the very Big Brother of all things video.
