But what if Jon Snow doesn’t come back?
You might have already read and seen everywhere that Jon Snow is coming back 100%, the poster revealed by HBO says it all, you probably got over-hyped and this piece of news already getting cold. But what if Jon Snow doesn’t come back? What if it’s just an evil plot to get us all excited again for nothing? Jon got stabbed multiple times, we have seen little to no resurrection in this TV series and, honestly, what role does Snow have to play in the World of Ice and Fire?
Jon would wake up surrounded by enemies, once again and his role would be crucial only if he actually found a way to fight the army of the dead or if he found himself on the Iron Throne. Snow’s journey is becoming increasingly difficult, despite the set of advantages that revival would bring with themselves. But let’s assume that the story is still long and that events like these can unfold in Snow’s favor.
The main hype around Jon Snow’s fate is related to Ian McShane’s presence in the show and the massive spoiler that he dropped for the fans. When approached about his role in the 6th season, McShane said that “he is responsible for bringing someone back. Someone that you though you will never see again.” The spoilers stopped here since McShane said that revealing anything else might leave him without a career for the rest of his life.
Obviously, fans are thinking about Jon Snow, especially since McShane is only participating in one episode this season. But this is where things become really, really tricky. People are already expecting to see Jon Snow, they have been expecting it since the end of season 5, so what if he was referring to someone else? And what if that someone else is Lady Stoneheart?
Let’s think about it: people have stopped hoping about Stoneheart, the North will be in ruin after Littlefinger comes with an army to take back Sansa and there is literally no one in the region who can avenge the Starks right now. Unless Lady Stoneheart steps in. She would be the perfect candidate to destroy the Freys and she would also be an interesting character to watch.
So what if Jon Snow doesn’t come back? What if we are in for a bigger surprise than that which we expect? After all, Martin surprised us all the way until now, it’s quite time that the show creators did something that would leave us both bleeding and cheering at the same time.
