Steam launches the first edition of Steam Awards in 2016.
Along with the multiple Steam sales, the gaming platform has called out the gaming community to vote for the best title in the library. Hence, the fans are now able to participate in the first ever Steam Awards edition and nominate their favorite game.
“Our Steam Community will decide the nominees for the prestigious Steam Awards”, reads steampowered.com.
The event is available since November 23rd and will run until November 29th, 2016.
As far as the gaming categories are concerned, Steam has something a little bit more different in mind, rather than using common denominations for the sections one might expect to see the games listed under. Hence, the “Test of Time” category leaves room for users to vote for the best title that still moves on through the ages. With this, Steam seeks to identify the games that always make the users return to them, even though they are now a long way from their original release date.
Another humorous category is called “I’m Not Crying, There’s Something In My Eye”. Hence, voters will be able to nominate the best tearjerker in Steam’s library.
Running for the first edition of the Steam Awards are also the games in the “Just 5 More Minutes” category. Needless to say that in gaming language, the minutes turn into hours, compelling gamers all over to reschedule their activities for the next day. Hence, the gaming community will be able to nominate the best title that kept them going sleepless into the night in front of the screen.
The Steam Awards list of amusing gaming categories also includes the “Game Within A Game”, for the best side quest or mini-game found within a more complex story, the “Whoooaaaa, dude!” for the best mind blowing title, or the “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” for less popular games.
Moreover, the gaming community can contribute to further developing the Steam Awards categories by coming up with their own section under “We Didn’t Think Of everything”. However, digital homicide or brutal games are out of the question, according to Steam.
Users can vote for their favorite game in each of the aforementioned categories by clicking on “Nominate this game for an award” button. After the gamers select a specific category, they have to test the game and write a review. In turn, Steam will grant the voters with a special badge and a 25 boost in experience. The Steam Awards will end on November 29th, 2016, at the same time with the Steam sales.
