Star Citizen 2.0 is considered to be the most ambitious project when it comes to space sims.
Considered perhaps the most ambitious project in gaming history, Star Citizens 2.0 Alpha is, without a doubt, the king of all PC space simulation games. Star Citizen 2.0 Alpha hits 100 million dollars threshold, setting yet another record when it comes of crowdfunding.
And this is not altogether incidental when we take a look at the game itself. Beautifully designed, neat graphics, flawless gameplay, the game has everything a player needs: space battles, RPG-style game mechanics, ships, armadas and even building. The game doesn’t rely solely on commanding your ship and blasting your foes into oblivion. It goes way beyond that.
Probably inspired by the X-series and of course, the ever popular Freelancer when it comes to full-fledged space encounters, the game aims to combine different aspects of space sim games with other elements found in RPG and even FPS games. And so, besides exploring and blasting your enemies, you can reconfigure and even rebuild your space station. Other elements included in the game are trading, base management and FPS style elements.
Also, the game franchise features some also updates, which come together with the new version of the games. According to the game designers, the 2.0 Alpha version will feature three new classes of ships, including the Retaliator, the Constellation and the Vanguard. Packages with various DLCs could also be purchased for a sum of 45 dollars. These packs include the Aurora MR, the Aurora LN and the Mustang Alpha.
More pieces of good news are on the way. By purchasing your digital copy of Star Citizen 2.0 Alpha, you will be capable of downloading copies of the two new stand-alone expansion pack, Star Citizen and Squadron 42, which are due to launch somewhere in 2016.
Star Citizen 2.0 Alpha hits 100 million dollars threshold showing the gaming industry what crowdfunding is all about. The project managed to reach this milestone because of an unprecedented number of gamers that actively take part in all sort of gaming activities including online forums, fan events, social media events and live stream. Moreover, it would seem that fans are actually capable of seeing the developer team at work.
And to be fair, the game itself has the potential for greatness. According to the numbers and certain other rumors hovering on the web, it is very likely that Star Citizen 2.0 might be capable of surpassing even EVE or other space MMORPGs out there. For now, we eagerly await to see what will be the developer’s next more.
