Before the official IFA event took off in Berlin today, a poster already revealed Sony’s new Xperia Z5 flagship smartphones .
Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact seem to be the three members of the newest smartphone family produced by Sony Inc. Initially, the poster was released on the Dutch website nu.nl and quickly took to all corners of the internet.
Perhaps a mishap with a too early released promotional material, the interest it sparked shows how eager consumers are to take a look at the latest Sony devices.
All three Xperia Z5 members seem to have the flagship logo edged on their sashies, while the design is not much different from previous Xperia smartphones.
On the Xperiablog, a post suggests:
“The new design will have an ’XPERIA’ logo on the side of the aluminium frame (it’s not clear if this will only be on the Xperia Z5 Premium or all of the Z5 family). These will be the first Sony Xperia models to feature a fingerprint sensor”.
What will differentiate the three?
For once, size. The Xperia Z5 is believed to sport a 5.2 inches display at 1920×1080, while the Compact version is thought to sport a 1280×720, 4.6 inches display. Last, but not least, Xperia Z5 Premium will pack a 3840×2160 5.5 inches display.
Quite impressive, considering it can support 4K streaming, allowing the highest resolution and quality so far in a smartphone. Sharp and true, it is bound to be a hit.
Secondly, cameras. The camera featuring on the Xperia Z5 is a 23MP image sensor that will capture sharp images at 5x Clear Image Zoom. With 30 milliseconds autofocus, it tops the market by far.
Also, one can switch between image resolution, depending on what better suits their needs and preferences: 8MP, 20MP or 23 MP, at 16:9, 16:9 or 4:3 ratios.
Already a landmark feature of the Xperia Z families, Xperia Z5 is also IP68 certified to be water resistant and dust-proof. The microUSB port is fully protected underwater to a certain depth and a limited amount of time. Still, that’s a convenient feature for a handset.
Battery life is expected to last for two days straight, allowing for a better, worry-free experience of all the functionalities the new Sony Xperia Z5 family will offer.
More details will follow as the IFA consumer-oriented event develops.
