Wearables are becoming increasingly popular among consumers, reason why an growing number of important names in the tech industry keep their focus on the innovative approach on technology. Sony has officially unveiled its latest smartband, designed to monitor your health and fitness activities.
Oficially known as SmartBand 2, the new tracker is designed with a heart rate monitor that can keep track of your heart’s inner workings all day. The band constantly checks your heart rate, hence it can determine which activities make it go wild and which leave your heart at rest, helping to keep its pace at a normal level.
The SmartBand 2 will also check your general activity and movements, will keep track of your sleep record and reveal the stress levels you are exposed to, telling you if your day is a highly stressful one even though you may not be aware of it.
Sony rolls out SmartBand 2 which will pair with Android and Apple smartphones. It is designed to vibrate and light up a LED light to alert you of incoming calls, text messages and e-mails.
The tech company offers many new and useful features along with its upcoming product, giving you a helping hand in managing your health and stress levels, but it is quite a bold move from the guys, as SmartBand faces competition from a wide range of other activity trackers. The wearables market is extremely crowded with Fitbit, Misfit, Jawbone and Garmin already holding a large piece of the profits and users pie. All these offer various types of bands with exercise tracking, sleep and heart rate monitoring and smartphone pairing.
And there we have the smart watches as well, with the Apple Watch leader which offers all the above mentioned benefits and even more. Microsoft Band has its own design of health monitoring, sleep and other activity trackers.
Maybe Sony has an ace in its sleeve but we don’t know about it yet. It is true that the band looks slim and fancy but it certainly has to deliver more than that to really make an impression on users. It seems that Sony offers a special app known under the name of Lifelog. The app works with Xperia phones and Android phones altogether. Apart from recording an entire list of activities, the app can also track the places you’ve been when you take your time off from routine and you release your bad vibes through your daily jog. Lifelog shows you how active you were over a certain period of time as well.
