Upon questioning, Robert Boyce, Chief of Detectives, told the press that Infante admitted to the murders, saying he went to the victims’ place with the purpose of taking Felicia Barahona’s life.

When asked about the motive, the perpetrator told police officers that Felicia Barahona angered him by dressing Miguel in girls’ clothing. Robert Boyce told reporters that monetary issues could also have triggered the attack.
According to the coroner, Julie Bolcer, the former teacher died from strangulation and Infante’s son of asphyxia. Felicia Barahona’s contract with DeWitt Clinton High School was terminated in 2012 when investigators discovered her relationship with Infante. A report put together by a Special Commissioner of Investigation for the New York City School District shows that the former teacher invited her student to her home on multiple occasions beginning with 2011. Moreover, the sexual nature of their relationship resulted in Infante fathering a son with his teacher.
Even though the report did not disclose the identity of the father when Felicia Barahona was released of her duty in 2012, the police investigators looking into the case have now confirmed that Isaac Duran Infante was the student and the father of her son.
