So How Did The Arkham Knight do?
The Arkham Knight marked the last installment in the Batman Arkham series which started back in 2008. Although it was highly expected and offered a really impressive storyline, the game had its major flaws that made it a 50-50 deal.
Arkham Knight should have been the most astonishing Batman experience that was ever released as a video game, but the amount of bugs, crashes, texture issues and low fps made the game unbearable to play. It is a really sad day for a gamer when you finally get your hands on such a masterpiece only to realize it is so poorly configured that you should have kept those $60.
This doesn’t sound too bad when you’re reading about it. Yes, there might be a few bugs, some crashes, but you can still play it right? Guess again. People had to wait one entire week for a patch that fixed some issues, but some great flaws still remain. It is probable that you might need a batcomputer like the one Bruce uses downstairs if you want to run the game at 30 fps.
Did we mention that the game was pulled out from Steam because of how many complaints it had? RockSteady had to resort to this move because everything was getting out of control.
The newly added Batmobile also comes packed with its own special fps drop feature. While the super smashing, wall breaking, human bullet firing vehicle has a core part to play in the game, using it decreases your fps drastically, robbing you of the experience of a cool ride that can blow up anything.
But let’s get down to some serious and positive business: if your desktop is good enough, this is a game that you want to play. Gotham is finally a city that deserves attention. It feels as though there were 100 people assigned to polish every square meter in this virtual world, giving it the precise atmosphere you need in a Batman game. It is simply astonishing and beautiful to watch.
And now the storyline. If you don’t want spoilers we suggest you just skip to the next paragraph, but the storyline is so good that you need to know what’s happening: while Batman is faced with Scarecrow’s dear toxin, he is also coping with an inner Joker invasion, crippling his mind into submission. There are a few moments in the game in which Bruce loses himself and the Joker takes over as the new Batman.
But if you really have a good computer, we recommend that you try this game. It is really well-crafted, action-packed with a great storyline and the voice actors are doing a great job at maintaining the atmosphere in Gotham. If you have a few spare hours this weekend, you’d better waste them with Arkham Knight.
