These days more and more people own a smartphone, tablet, and laptop and that makes them read even less than they did before owning that device. Everybody is in a hurry and not many people find the time to read. The problem is that children these days don’t read as much as they used to because they are too busy playing on their tablets.
What if we found a way for them to do both? Amazon already found it. Rapids is a reading app for children. The app uses a chat style to make children read while they use their tablet or smartphone. This reading app focuses mainly on children with ages between 7 and 12. You can also find some apps that have story books or fairy tales but this one is much more interactive for kids.
Michael Robinson, the man who headed the Kindle for Kids project, found out that his children were using Amazon’s app. He was surprised just how great this reading app is for kids. He mentioned that this app is even better for little children because it can also read to them so if they haven’t learned to read yet, it is a good alternative.
“He’s reading and he’s learning at the same time and all the research says it’s great to read to your kids anyway and so it’s reading to him, “mentioned Robinson.
This reading app had many features including the “Read to me” for little children. Another interesting feature is that it can help kids understand different words and pronounce them correctly. The developers mentioned that they think that this reading app is going to boost the confidence of kids. They designed this app for children who have busy parents that don’t always have the time to read to them.
Since it uses a chat-like style it is designed to ask questions to the users in order to find out if they learned and understood everything they read. This reading app contains many stories and for the price of $2,99 a month, users get unlimited stories. Despite the fact that this reading app is a good thing for children because it makes them read, many people agree that it can’t replace books.
