President Obama Empathizes With France
President Obama empathizes with France over the “outrageous” attacks that have taken place on Friday night. The President of the United States has declared that the American people are with France in all its desperate times and prays for the people who have died and for those who are holding on to their lives. Obama’s declarations come as a call to arms, a reminder that all of humanity has the right and moral obligation to stand against terrorist acts and those who commit them.
While speaking on the matter, Obama said that “this is an attack not just on Paris, an attack not just on the people of France, but this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share”. This is how Obama indirectly said that we are all responsible and that we should all take serious interest in the events that have occurred on Friday night. Ignorance is not something that should be on our agenda at the moment.
The death toll has risen significantly in France, with approximately 120 people killed in the midst of several terrorist attacks. To understand the length to which these murderous beings went, imagine that the majority of these people were killed in a concert hall. People like you and me, people who were innocent, people who wanted to go on with their lives just like they do every day.
It was established that all these attacks were coordinated and it fell as no surprise when French authorities identified one of the attackers as a French man. Only time will tell who exactly committed these horrendous acts, but the French President Hollande had already declared that he holds ISIS responsible for the events that put his people in danger.
President Obama had spoken to the French President after he had been evacuated from the stadium which he was in when the explosions occurred. He offered his condolences and promised Hollande that he would do anything in his power to support the French investigation and see that the ones responsible be brought to justice.
Even if President Obama empathizes with France, there are numerous opinions voiced throughout the world that blame America for what has happened last night. Is America’s very existence responsible for these attacks? It is a hard subject to discuss, but one that people do not shy away from.
