A Porterville mother has been placed under detained for the alleged murder of her five-month-old daughter. The authorities were notified by Sierra Medical View hospital staff after the woman showed up with the infant.
Porterville Mother Drove Child to the Hospital
According to Lieutenant Dominic Barteau of the Porterville Police Department, the events that led to the arrest of 20-year-old Angelica Castro started to unfold on Monday. At 9 p.m. the Sierra View Medical Center’s staff called the authorities to report the death of an infant who was brought by his mother.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the authorities determined that the five-month-old girl showed signs of trauma all over her body and arranged for the arrest of the woman that brought her in.
Minutes later, the authorities arrived at a home located on South G Street. After conducting a house search, the investigators discovered evidence that linked the owner of the house, 20-year-old Angelica Castro, to the murder of the five-month-old infant.
The woman was arrested and taken in for additional questioning. According to Barteau, the authorities also regarded Castro’s like a person of interest in the murder case, but the man was released shortly after his police interview.
When commenting on the murder case involving the Porterville mom, Barteau said that the authorities have yet to release the baby’s autopsy report, but declared that it was gruesome. The hospital’s staff couldn’t be reached for comments.
At this time, it’s unclear what pushed Castro to murder her five-year-old daughter. Furthermore, the authorities are still trying to find out whether or not the woman was alone inside the car when she took the infant to the hospital.
Crime scene investigation revealed that the child’s murder occurred in Castro home, but the investigators lack evidence to point out an exact time of death.
