The stories surrounding Pluto are fascinating and growing in popularity with every minute. The dwarf planet has revealed itself to be one of the most magnificent places in our solar system and with every new image and every new piece of data that NASA is receiving from New Horizons, Pluto is getting more and more attention.
There are two major subjects that we want to talk about: Pluto’s sunrises and sunsets and even the possibility that there might be life on this little dwarf planet. Yes, the latter one seems quite improbable, does it? But we will get to that shortly. Now you really understand why Pluto is getting more and more attention, don’t you.
NASA’s New Horizons sent back an image showing the dwarf planet’s round, blue frame, which, according to specialists, might be an indicator the Pluto’s skies are blue, just like our planet’s skies. We are obviously not talking about the same blue. Given its distance from the sun, it is quite likely that Pluto’s blue is way, way darker.
Carly Howett declared via an email to Mashable that, if you could actually stay one day on Pluto, you might also notice the blue sunrise and sunset. During the day, however, it would be a little trickier. According to present speculations, the sky during the day is rarely blue, but scientists are still struggling to understand whether you can see a blue sky from Pluto or not.
Now for the interesting part: is there life on Pluto? It is still very difficult to say because of numerous factors. The departure from the Sun is a big no-no but scientists have discovered ice water on Pluto’s surface. Yes, it is water, but it does have a rather odd color: red. Scientists have yet to figure out why ice water is red on Pluto, but maybe with the data that is going to arrive soon they might take a better look.
For now, supposing that there would be any life on Pluto, there is a high chance that it would only be molecular. And for us to discover that, we would actually need to send someone to the end of our solar system and have a closer look. Any volunteers? We would probably need some super humans equipped with super warming gear that we do not yet have. We will keep you posted.
We are still waiting for some extra news on Pluto, however, and there have been numerous voices that NASA could announce that there might be alien life on the dwarf planet.
