Now Mozilla Firefox decided that it is time to stop supporting these two models.
Microsoft has developed a lot of great operating systems for PCs including Windows XP and Windows Vista. The problem is that both of these models are almost 2 decades old. This is why many web browsers decided to stop supporting Windows Vista and XP. The only one which hasn’t given up is Mozilla Firefox.
Now Mozilla Firefox decided that it is time to stop supporting these two models. Starting March 2017 Mozilla is going to move the users that have these operating systems to the Extended Support Release. Mozilla Firefox mentioned that it is going to stop the support for these operating systems starting September.
Mozilla Firefox won’t stop working on Vista or XP. Users can still use the web browser but the fact that the web browser is not going to deliver security updates. This means that the security flaws are hard to avoid and this means that it is going to be really hard to keep using Mozilla Firefox.
Tech experts mentioned that this change is not going to affect a lot of people because only some users still have old operating systems and use this type of web browsers. Using a new web browser on an old operating system can be really hard.
Despite the fact that only a few people are going to be affected by this change, people who still want to use Mozilla Firefox need to change their operating system or maybe this PC. This is if they still want to experience modern internet after September 2017.
This change was announced officially in a blog post by Mozilla. The web browser also announced that they will check up to see how many people are still using Windows XP or Windows Vista. After that, Mozilla Firefox won’t support these operating systems.
“In the meantime, we strongly encourage our users to upgrade to a version of Windows that is supported by Microsoft. Unsupported operating systems receive no security updates, have known exploits, and are dangerous for you to use,” mentioned Mozilla Firefox in the blog post
Firefox is not the only web browser who stopped supporting any Windows version older than 2007. Chrome and Explorer are other web browsers who stopped their support for Windows Vista and Windows XP.
