During a recent press conference, a Mapleton Police Department spokesperson declared that the family of four discovered dead planned the deed right down to the last detail. The police report reveals that the mother and father researched mass shootings and sleeping pills months before setting in motion their murder-suicide plan.
Mapleton Family Moved from Switzerland to Utah
Back in November 2017, the Mapleton authorities would find the lifeless bodies of Jessica Griffith, Timothy Griffith, and their two children. An investigation revealed that this tragic story began last year, right after Jessica Griffith discovered that she might be suffering from an incurable disease.
Based on the police report, Jessica persuaded Timothy and the rest of her family that she doesn’t have much to live and that they should spend as much time together as possible. Griffith’s online search history reveals articles and studies on ovarian cancer.
Months after Jessica became convinced that she’s going to die, she began texting Timothy about planning their death. John Jackson, the Mapleton Chief of Police, declared that Jessica’s husband began doing his own research at around the same time his wife told him about committing mass suicide.
The man’s online activity reveals that he was looking into material on mass shootings, sleeping pills, and gunshot wounds.
Both Timothy and Jessica claimed to have traumatizing pasts, with Timothy beating the child he had from the first marriage, and Jessica accusing her Switzerland relatives of abusing her as a child.
Based on the police report, in November 2016, Jessica and Timothy placed an undisclosed amount of sleeping pills in the chocolate fondue they’ve served to their children. After the family went to bed, Timothy gunned down his wife, two children, and the family’s German shepherd before committing suicide.
Jackson concluded that the authorities have no way of knowing what pushed the Mapleton family to go down this road since Jessica’s autopsy revealed that she was in perfect health.
