Little Village Man Slashes the Child’s Throat and Dumped His Body in the Trash
On Thursday, the Little Village homicide detectives aided by the Chicago Police Department and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force apprehend 37-year-old Rolando Ortiz. According to the authorities, the man butchered his son because the boy was making too much noise and kept his father awake.
Ortiz’s affidavit revealed that on Thursday, he was alone with 2-year-old Mateo Garcia Aguayo at their 2700 block of South Avers Avenue as his wife, who works at the same company as Ortiz, had just left for work.
In preparation for his night shift, the Little Village man went to his bedroom but was awaken several times by Mateo who was running and screaming around the house. According to the authorities, the man got out of bed, grabbed the two-year-old, dragged him to the kitchen where he took a knife and slashed his throat so deep, that he nearly decapitated the child.
Realizing that he killed his son, the man tried to cut his wrists but to no avail. Ortiz placed the boy’s body inside a black trash bag, along with his blood-covered clothes, and the crime weapon which he later took to the dumpster.
The Little Village man tried to reach his wife over the phone in order to confess the deed but could not reach her. Eventually, he phoned and told his sister who, in turn, alerted the authorities. The man was later apprehended, after fleeing the scene.
