"Little Girl from Florida Made a Miraculous Recovery "

Gemma Botelho recovered after her doctors declared after suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest.

With Christmas not being complete without any miracles, here are the facts in the case of the 4-year old from Florida who almost died from a flu-related complication. The Little girl from Florida made a miraculous recovery after doctors decided to put her into an induced coma.

Gemma Botelho, a normal 4-year old girl from Florida, did not display any unusual symptoms during the first days. The girl’s father, by the name of Alex Botelho, declared that her little girl had a slight fever on the night on the 13th of December.

Three days later, Gemma did not show any signs of being ill. The fever went away and Gemma was behaving like a normal little girl. But then, disaster struck the Botelho family.

As Lejla Szabo, Gemma’s mother recollects, three days later she saw that Gemma’s condition took a turn for the worse. Lejla told the reporters that Gemma was pale as a sheet and that her hands and feet were cold as a stone.

Seeing that Gemma’s conditioned worsened, the bereft parents decided to rush her to the nearest hospital in order to seek advice from the doctors. The couple arrived at the hospital in the nick of time.

As Gemma was rushed into the emergency room, her heart stopped beating. Gemma went into sudden cardiac arrest due to flu-related complications. The doctors shortly began resuscitation procedures. After 45 minutes, they had given up on performing CPR on the little girl and informed the family that Gemma might not make it.

In order to preserve Gemma’s cerebral functions, the doctors decided to place her in an induced coma and put her on life support. Also, they even put the little girl on the heart transplant list.

Not knowing what to expect the parents went home and waited for the dreadful moment to happen. But it would seem that fate something else in store for the young couple.

After a few days, Gemma began to display signs of cardiac activity. Gemma’s heart began to beat again and the doctors could not explain why this happened.

Jeffrey Jacobs, a pediatrician working for the All Children’s Hospital and who also was involved in Gemma’s case declared that he is as baffled by this development as the other physicians. He also stated that one cannot everything that is happening in medicine.

For now, Gemma is doing well and she is expected to make a full recovery. Asked why they haven’t inoculated their daughter, the parents declared that they didn’t think that influenza was a serious disease.
