A photographer and the founder of the Be The Change Foundation, Brandy Angel, and a team of Hollywood stuntmen came together to bring a smile on 12-year-old Robert Hart’s face who has been battling leukemia since his first years of life. Brandy Angel offers free photo shoots for kids with terminal diseases in hopes of brightening their treatment days as much as possible.
Robert Hart has been battling his disease since he was a little boy. A devastating news for the family was delivered in early February, when doctors told his parents a recent leukemia treatment did not yield the results they were expecting. Hence, more chemo sessions and alternate treatments are now lying ahead. However, Brandy Angel decided to step in and make the best she could to make the days ahead feel better.
“When I found out that the latest treatment had failed, we wanted a way to make him feel better”, she told reporters on Monday night, February 20th.
The two had previously met while Angel was working on a photo shoot for a friend of Robert’s who was also suffering from a devastating disease. When she learned of his condition, Angel promised Robert to turn him into a superhero one day and even bought him a Superman suit to be ready for when that day finally comes. Unfortunately, however, her efforts were hindered as Robert had to be admitted to the hospital after his most recent leukemia treatment was deemed inefficient. Now, she decided to make good on her promise and make the young teen’s days a little sweeter.
On her blog, Angel said she felt like she should do anything in her power to fulfill Robert’s dream after she saw an update from his mother on Facebook. Fortunately, a friend of Angel’s who owns Carrett Associates Casting Company had ties to Hollywood stunt agencies and gathered several stuntmen to make Robert’s dream come true.
Only a week later, everyone got together and sent Robert flying, fighting crime from above as a real-life superhero. A few hours of Photoshop editing later, and Robert got his own album picturing him delivering justice on the busy city streets. Now, Angela is hoping that one of the boy’s favorite actors, Chris Pratt, will one day show up on his door. The photographer is working with patients like Robert through CHOA’s Alfec center and is planning to bring a photography workshop to older patients, as well.
