The Lake Wales sheriff’s deputies recently arrested a 16-year-old teen and charged him with first-degree murder. According to the arrest warrant of the Lake Wales Teen, he lured his 15-year-old best friend in a heavily wooded area where he beat him to death with a baseball bat.
Lakes Wales Teen Provided No Motive for Fiendish Murder
According to Grady Judd, the Polk County Sherriff, on Monday afternoon, a teen called 911 and told the emergency dispatcher that he saw a teenager emerging from the woods and carrying a blood-covered baseball bat.
Allegedly, the caller told the authorities that the Lake Wales teen, later identified as 16-year-old Dillen Murray, went towards him and claimed that he had repeatedly hit his best friend with a baseball bat and that he might be dead.
Furthermore, according to Sheriff Judd, after hearing Murray’s confession, the teen went into the woods where he discovered the body of 15-year-old Giovanni Diaz. When the authorities arrived, the witness led detectives to the spot where he found Diaz’s body and provided a detailed description of the bat-carrying teenagers.
Minutes later, the sheriff’s deputies arrested Murray. During his police interview, the Lake Wales teen confessed asking his friend to accompany him to the nearby woods on the pretense of wanting to show his something.
After traversing the woods and finding an isolated spot, Murray assaulted Diaz with the baseball bat he brought home and kept swinging until his best friend passed away.
When asked by the authorities why he killed his best friend, the Lake Wales teen kept silent. For his deed, Murray was charged with first-degree murder and booked into county jail.
Judd declared that the boy faces additional charges, as the deputies found marijuana when searching Murray’s room.
