Last year’s Gotham has given life to a new point of view, a story that did not have Bruce Wayne or the Batman as its main protagonist. The man in charge is detective Jim Gordon, a green cop who came into Gotham as an idealist and wanted to change it, but circumstances did not allow him to act as he wanted, not all the time anyway. So the story went on and now Gotham will enter its second season.
Not everyone liked the story or the characters, but the truth is that Jim Gordon did a pretty good job my moving away from his pure idealism. Season two will continue in the same manner, but the official plot synopsis revealed some extras that we surely are looking forward to. Gordon’s decisions will shape him into the cop we all know him to be and it all starts with the first episode which is called “Damned if you do…”
Fox dropped a great number of spoils for us: we saw the future Joker, a female Firefly, Barbara gone mad and more others. Bruce is now going to explore the batcave, which is not exactly a batcave yet and the villains will rise, trying to bring Gotham down to its knees. Gotham’s Season 2 Synopsis gives us something a little more to look forward to.
Penguin is now officially the King of Gotham and Jim has a lot to think about based on the events that occurred in the GCPD, so he might, yet again, ask for Penguin’s help. We know that he still owes Coppbepot one good favor, so Jim is in a really difficult position right now.
At the same time, Theo Galavan and Tabitha, his sister, arrive in Gotham and ally with some of the most dangerous inmates in Arkham. Galavan is rumored to be Ra’s al Ghul himself and if that is true, Gotham is in grave danger.
All of these major events are occurring while Bruce is exploring his father’s secrets and paving the way for the Dark Knight. But we do not expect to see him do anything heroic, or at least not yet. Brice still has a long journey ahead of himself, so defending the city might prove to be a major impediment rather than a step forward, but we do not know what to expect from the series for the time being.
Gotham will air in September 21st, opening a new chapter in the origin story, so if you want to see how the Batman came to be, show up at the premiere and keep watching.
