Monday’s Gotham run through has been quite a bumpy ride, but somehow the good managed to win this day. Barbara almost tricked Jim and Galavan almost tricked Bruce, Gotham almost losing both its heroes in one night. Luckily, Bruce made the right call while Jim just got lucky because he has an awesome partner. The entire situation snowballed quickly, giving the good guys the upper edge.
Jim Gordon had his first solid interaction with Barbara this season and thing did not begin well. After Barbara showed up at the GCPD, Jim tried to interrogate her. He knew that the only way to get anything out of her was to show her that he still had feelings for her. The tricky thing is that he actually does and that puts him and Leigh in a tough spot.
Jim proceeds to kiss Barbara and she promises him that she would tell him everything he needs to know about the Arkham breakout if he will with her down town so that she can “show him something”. Jim agrees, knowing that it was a trap, so the GCPD assembles another alpha strike squad and move towards Downtown. It is there that Jim’s car is hit by a truck and abducted.
Waking up in a church, Jim finds Barbara in a wedding dress and with an abducted Leigh as well. There are other witnesses at the scene, too, but all tied up and only present against their will. Bullock suspects that he would find Jim at the church, so he comes in crashing the party. Barbara almost manages to run away, but after fighting with Jim she falls through a broken glass. Jim manages to catch her hand, but she lets go saying that she loves him.
Bruce also has a long conversation with Galavan in which the latter tries to persuade him to give him his company so that Galavan can “cleanse Gotham”. He offers Bruce’s parent’s killer name in return, so Bruce is obviously tempted. He consults Alfred, but when he is about to sell the papers he stops, saying that he cannot give his company just like that.
At this very moment Jim walks in with a police squad arresting Galavan. This happens because Barbara manages to “slip” that the former mayor is alive in an old warehouse and this gives Jim all the evidence he needs to arrest Theo. The bad news is that, just before being arrested, Galavan throws Bruce’s envelope into the fire, the killer’s name remaining a total mystery.
This Gotham run through has been a bumpy ride, but thankfully Jim did not lose his life and Bruce did not lose his company.
