George RR Martin Rarely Drops A Spoiler
George RR Martin rarely drops a spoiler, but when he does, the entire Game of Thrones community goes wild. It doesn’t matter if you’re a show watcher or a reader, the Game or Thrones series is a shocking one to anybody and now that Martin talked about the ending, people all around the world are curious about what he meant.
During a talk at the Northwestern University’s School of Journalism, Martin said that he is planning a “bittersweet ending” for his famous masterpiece. So there madness will persist until the very end. It is most likely that Daenerys will not sit on the Throne, more of our beloved characters will die and the fate of the realm will be, once again, left hanging.
When talking about the end specifically, Martin said that “people ask me how Game of Thrones is gonna end, and I’m not gonna tell them. But I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end”. Obviously, Martin is not going to spoil his own books, but dropping a statement like that one is heart-breaking and people will linger over it for years.
As every fan already knows, Martin was a big fan of Tolkien and he wants the ending to be just as happy and tragical as possible. He remembered about how he read The Return of The King back when he was a boy and he did not understand much when everything ended. But people need to have that feeling of happiness and sadness at the same time, because that is how life is, in the end.
There is a great probability that martin will end the books exactly on the perception of history repeating itself, a character that is going to sit on the Iron Throne at the expense of another’s life and the final king, or queen, will not exactly be fit for the throne, but it won’t be the worst choice either.
In the end, only Martin knows how his story will end (with the exception of D&D, of course) and he will make it so that everybody who read will have an important lesson to learn. As for the TV series, we really believe that they will not involve the exact same ending portrayed in the books. After all, George RR Martin rarely drops a spoiler, so maybe it is there because he knows it’s not exactly there.
