Flagship Nintendo store got its deserved makeover. One month after the Nintendo World store shut its doors, the brand new Nintendo New York opened its doors. The new Nintendo shrine was met with enthusiasm by cohorts of fans waiting for two days in line to be the first to get in the doors.
During a decade of Nintendo World, the emblematic location became not only a hit with kids, but also a top tourist attraction and the Nintendo shrine for Nintendo fans around the world. Now, Nintendo New York aims to be the same for all Nintendo fans, young and old.
The flagship Nintendo store got its deserved makeover. That means Nintendo New York got an upgrade in style. Starting with the logo and continuing with every corner of the flagship location, the new Nintendo store is a glimmering success. PJ Sadler, the regional general manager declared that the racetrack logo mirrors a high quality level which Nintendo aspires to achieve in all its enterprises.
The Nintendo New York store’s new design is part in-house design details, part the result of consultation with firms like Gensler. As you step in the door, it’s obvious that the registers on the first-floor are now pushed to the west wall. The familiar alcove of the upstairs was taken out to open more space and offer a whole new world of possibilities to the former Nintendo World.
The team behind the design project emphasized flexibility and open spaces to the highest degree. Display cases are now on wheels so they can be used to redesign the interior of Nintendo NY each day if it is required. The move also leaves more space for events about to take place here.
For instance, next month will bring the Pokkén Tournament regional finals which will be held in the Nintendo NY store. The tournament will be the first real test for the modular space available now.
As the flagship Nintendo store got its deserved makeover, the gaming museum was kept as part and parcel of the Nintendo heritage. The displays are still on the second floor. The items could change regularly depending on Nintendo’s latest releases. At the moment, Nintendo NY hosts the Nintendo consoles gallery in the gaming museum space.
The redesigned Nintendo flagship store didn’t renounce some of the most iconic symbols of the location. The entrance doors to the new location are still complete with the Poké Ball handles from when the center was the Pokémon Center NY. The elevator is still guarded by the outlines of Mario characters cast in metal. These belong to the Nintendo World Days.
From Nintendo World to Nintendo NY, the location remains a Nintendo shrine without a doubt.
