How to activate the “Find my device” feature”
Having Windows 8.1 was great both for overall user satisfaction and for your computer. According to some users and IT specialists, 8.1 was as versatile and handsome as Windows 7, but it would cut down to almost 50 percent on resource consumption. Now, the new and dazzling Windows 10 comes to amaze us with its premium features. This article is intended to teach users, who are new to Windows 10, how to find devices with Windows 10.
The newest addition to Microsoft’s OSs pallet, Windows 10 has everything an operating system needs. UI looks amazing, the overall control feels very good and also the response time has decreased. The only known issue that still baffle IT specialists out there is 10’s booting time. Despite the fact that Windows 10 was engineered to consume less resources than its predecessor, all users have reported that booting time has increased by several seconds. Moreover, the new Windows has the annoying habit of asking for your Microsoft account password every time you log in, regardless of whether you are connected to the Internet or not.
Despite the fact that 10 still has some bugs left for the developers to fix, all and all, the new OS is very well optimized. One of the most cool feature, apart from Cortana, of course, it the find my device option. Well, you cannot use it yet to control other devices, such as phones or tablets, but it comes in handy when it comes to locating your long lost gizmo.
Here’s how to do just that. Fire up your windows tab, either by hitting the windows key on your keyboard or by clicking with you mouse pointer on the lower left corner. Select settings from the star menu. From the settings panel, navigate until you see an icon named Update and security. Click on the icon and you will be taken in the update and security tab.
Next, click on the option Find my device. From here you are able to turn on and off this function. If the feature is active, you will have to scroll back to the device tab in order to add some device for your Windows to find. If the option is labeled as being off, push the Change button. A slider button will appear. Just slide it to the right side, using your mouse and the feature will be turned on.
If by chance you lose your device, you can always click on the hyperlink situated in the top section of the Find my device window. This will show you the device’s last known location.
