A few weeks ago, two teenagers were seriously injured after they were attacked by sharks in the waters of North Carolina. Today, a father and his son were taken to the emergency room after they were the victims of an alligator attack. The father and his 13-year-old son suffered serious injured after they were bitten by an alligator in Chambers County.
According to Chambers County officials, the man and his boy were viciously attacked while they were at Cedar Hill Park, while they were swimming in Lake Charlotte.
Shane Price, one of the locals, said he was returning home when he saw the ambulance and the police close to his home. At first Mr. Price didn’t know what had happened, but he soon found out that someone had been attacked by an alligator right close to where he lives. He said that he is scared for his family especially since he is the father of three little kids who often play close to where the alligator attack occurred.
The grandfather of the teenager said the boy, Kaleb, was out with his friends swimming in the lake, by the bank, close to some trees. The 13-year-old boy was in the water with his brother when the alligator got close and attacked him, biting his leg and arm.
The boy’s grandfather witnessed the whole incident and said that after attacking his grandson, the alligator started pulling him under the water. According to the grandfather, the boy’s parents and himself started running into the water to try and save him. The boy’s father, James Hurley, started to kick the alligator but the animal bit him, too. Fortunately, he was able to scare the alligator away, which saved their lives.
Both the boy and his father were flown to the Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight in serious condition. They received immediate medical attention and their condition is now stabilized.
State officials warn people to be careful when going into the water because this is the alligators’ nesting season and because of the recent floods, the vicious reptiles have been displaced all over.
