Experience the Disney and Marvel Worlds in VR

The app allows you to experience scenes from Marvel movies in virtual reality.

Current 3D technology allows you to immerse yourself in a movie more than you ever could in 2D. But imagine watching Captain America in VR. Being a part of the Civil War, witness the Winter Soldier fight scenes as if they were going down right next to you. This is no longer a dream as you can now experience the Disney and Marvel worlds in VR thanks to Disney’s new virtual reality app.

“Transport yourself into the wonderful world of Disney from your very own living room with Disney Movies VR. This app is a fully immersive experience where you visit themed worlds, including Disney, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, and interact with some of your favorite characters in their natural environments,” reads Disney’s official statement.

Just imagine that your lifelong dream of fighting side by side with the Jedi’s is now close to coming true. All you need is a pair of VR headsets as the app is compatible with both HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift.

Disney might just have made the most compelling point why people should buy VR technology. If gamers are still pondering on if they should invest in the technology right now or wait for a couple of more years until it gets better and cheaper, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney fans need no additional arguments.

With this app, Disneyworld will become a second class attraction. Why search for people dressed as Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, or Jack Sparrow, when you can actually immerse yourself in the movies.

According to the aforementioned statement, the viewers can “choose from multiple scenes in Disney movies including The Jungle Book, Captain America, and Star Wars and be a part of the action.”

The app is now available on Steam, and it is free to download. Owners of the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive can check it out any time.

For those who haven’t gotten a chance at comparing the different headsets on the market here’s a summary of all you need to know.

The HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift are the best the market has to offer for the moment. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but according to the users, the Vive is better in cinema mode than the Rift.

From a price perspective, the Vive is more expensive, but it does come with more accessories than the Rift. When those will hit the market sometime later this year, both headsets will reach approximately the same price.

However, if you get to experience the Disney and Marvel worlds in VR, then the average $800 cost is not that that steep. Especially since new apps for the headsets are emerging every day.
