Pay attention to these mistakes if you are trying to lose weight, because you might be making them as well.
With Christmas and New Year’s Eve already gone, it is time for you to get in the shape you were before the holidays began or in an even better one. Here are the common mistakes people make while trying to lose weight.
First of all, people usually pick a famous diet, not thinking about some details that could make it impossible for them to stick to it. The problem is not every diet works for every person. There are some impediments like price, likings and lifestyle that would make it really difficult for you. For example, there are some diets that are really expensive to maintain, or there are diets that cut the carbs out, and if you were used to eating carbs almost every day, well let’s just say that you should choose something more appropriate. You should make your own diet plan, combining tips from more than one diet and you should make sure that you afford it as well. Experts believe that you should treat yourself with something you really like once a week, but don’t treat it as a cheat meal, but more as a celebration of a good behavior. A research published last spring revealed that the people who linked guilt to chocolate cake had less chances of finishing a weight loss program than the people who considered it a celebration.
Another mistake you do or did at least once is that your exercising and eating habits don’t do well together. Gym coaches say that people usually are on really low carb diets and that when they are at the gym, they push themselves really hard. Because the body needs carbs in order to transform them into energy, when you work out while eating low amounts of carbs or not at all, your energy level is extremely low. According to experts, working out without carbs is like driving a car without gas. We advise you to talk to a gym coach or a nutritionist about the diet you are following and to ask them what should your work out plan be.
Another problem encountered usually in weight loss plans are the huge first steps. People get excited about the prospect of losing weight and they want results as soon as possible. That’s why they go from eating junk food to only eating veggies and from zero exercise to workout sessions that take even two hours a day. According to experts, this only lasts for about three weeks. People start feeling discouraged and it all gets too much to handle, and so they quickly gain back the weight they have struggled for so long to lose. If you want to lose weight and make sure you don’t quickly gain it back, then you should start with smaller steps. Make small changes in your diet and exercise and become more restrict as the time passes and you feel ready for it.
Other common mistakes people make while trying to lose weight include eating too many granola bars which contain high sugar levels and eating badly after the gym work out.
