Everyone is aware of how beneficial is that first cup of coffee drank early in the morning. In fact, for most of us, that cup of Joe can actually make a difference between performing well or lingering more in Morpheus’s realm. But a recent study has discovered another benefit behind the black life-giving potion. Coffee may actually save your life if moderation is associated with coffee drinking habits.
It’s nothing entirely new that coffee is beneficial to our well-being. In fact, there several medical studies which hailed the benefits of coffee. The dark liquid, apart from taking away those early morning tantrums, can actually aid your digestive system and can even prevent the occurrence of several cardiovascular diseases.
The researchers who conducted this outstanding new research project are from the Maryland’s National Cancer Institute. By studying several thousands of records, the group of researchers were able to ascertain that those who drank coffee on a regular basis are less likely to die from heart diseases or cancer than those who are not regular coffee drinkers.
One of the researchers working for this project by the name of Erikka Lotfield declared that coffee contains any number of nutritional compounds, including potassium, folic acid and caffeine. The team has determined that these substances can actually help keep several potentially life-threatening diseases at bay.
In order to see if indeed coffee can make a difference or not, the researcher group pulled data on over 90000 US adults reported to have been regular coffee drinkers. The data they used for researcher purposes was gathered from several other national studies, from 1998 through 2009.
The members enrolled in the study were asked to write down their daily coffee intake, along with several other aspects regarding their diet and lifestyle. Although more than 8000 participants have died since the beginning of the study, the doctors have found out that the rate of death among coffee drinker is lower than in the case of non-coffee drinkers.
Several researchers pointed out that their project doesn’t prove that coffee is the key to treating harrowing diseases such as cancer or heart disease. They merely wished to stress out the fact that coffee consumption associated with a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle can keep several diseases at bay.
Moreover, the medical specialists warned us about not to abuse on drinking coffee. According to their guidelines, a normal, healthy adult, should consume no more than 3 or 4 cups of coffee per day. Also, the scientists noted that even decaf can have the same beneficial effect as normal coffee.
