Earlier today, 6 people were injured in a tree-story brick building when a casino bus crashed into it. A large portion of the building was demolished by the impact, authorities said.
The incident took place at about 2 p.m. The bus belonged to the Resorts World Casino, and in a an attempt to avoid hitting another vehicle, the driver lost control of the bus and struck the brick building situated in Rego Park of Queens. The bus then got stuck under the building, blocking its whole sidewalk.
Four passangers were injured while the driver got cuts from the wreckage. At least three persons from inside the building were lightly injured, with two of them refusing treatment. Officials say that all of them are expected to survive.
The receptionist of the law office said that the entire office powerfully vibrated when the bus struck and the impact was as loud as an explosion. The front window of the bus shattered to pieces while the entire front part of the bus was wrecked. The receptionists adds that everyone got out safely with the help of the rescuers that came through under the debris of bricks, and that she believes God was on their side today.
Resorts World Casino is one of the largest casino based in Queens, and is considered to be the prosperous racetrack casino in the US. Molly Hart, the spokesman of the Casino, sends her thoughts and prayers on the behalf of the company to those involved in the accident, but she refused to give information about how many people were on board or where was the bus heading to when the crash took place.
