Butt Implants and Male Breast Reduction Are on the Rise

"rock hard butt"

It’s quite difficult to get such a rock hard butt

Plastic surgery has been a controversial topic in the United States ever since it first reared its cosmetically engineered head. Depending on whom you ask, the procedures are either an affront to God or simply a way to give you a boost in self-esteem.

And since we’re now a bit more open-minded as a nation, more and more people have been getting plastic surgery. According to a new study performed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), butt implants and male breast reduction are on the rise in US.

Looking over the statistics from 2015, as well as at those from 2000 until the present, the ASPS came up with a number of pretty interesting statistics regarding what procedures are most popular, which are on the rise, and by how much. Here are a few of the numbers.

First of all, last year only saw a 2% percent increase since 2014. The total number of procedures last year came in at about 15.9 million. However, this is nothing compared to the increase since the year 2000, as 115% more people have gotten cosmetic procedures last year.

As for the procedures themselves, the top five cosmetic surgeries were breast augmentation, liposuction, rhinoplasty, eye lifts, and tummy tucks. As for the top five minimally invasive procedures, they are quite expected – Botox injections, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal, and the inevitable microdermabrasion (a fancy term for exfoliation).

Now, let’s talk a bit about the procedures that saw the greatest increase over the past few years. These aren’t yet the most demanded, nor are they the ones that will be the most performed. Instead, these procedures have shot up in numbers because the decreasingly critical public eye.

Like ASPS president Dr. David Song said,

“While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we’re seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address. Patients have more options than ever, and working closely with their surgeon, they’re able to focus on specific target areas of the body to achieve the look they desire.”

The two most popular procedures of this type are buttock lifts and male breast reduction surgeries. While we all can’t have a Michelangelo’s David rock hard butt, most of us settle for something not so… Renaissance. Meanwhile, 252% more people have gotten the procedure in 2015 than they did in 2000.

This brought the number of butt lifts in 2015 at 4,767. Breast reduction surgeries, on the other hand, reached a total of 27,456 procedures last year, but that isn’t the interesting part. The interesting part is that over 40% of breast reduction patients were men.
