Silent Circle’s Blackphone 2
Blackphone 2 will be launched in September this year and it is already available for pre-order.
Silent Circle has created a pre-order page for their new Blackphone 2. The page also announces the launch of this phone in September 2015. Still, the website does not mention the price for this product, so interested customers will have to get in touch with the sales department before placing an order.
The Blackphone 2 is considered to be a pro-privacy smartphone using the Silent Circle’s PrivatOS which is a security focused version of the Android operating system.
The apps that come with the phone also promise security for the users. The phone comes with the suite of secure messaging apps created by the company, SpiderOak secure cloud storage and many other applications for the users to enjoy.
The new phone promises a high definition 5.5 inch and 1080p display. The camera will also be able to take high quality pictures at 13 MB. Moreover, the phone has 3 GB of RAM and a 1.7 GHz octa-core processor.
The phone comes with micro SD card support and quick charge support and it offers many security features.
Earlier this year, Silent Circle company announced that the new phone will also join the Android for work initiative by Google. This way, Blackphone 2 users will be able to separate work-related information from the personal applications on their phones.
Giving the fact that the company adapted this initiative, it is very possible that even more people will be interested in their new phone.
David Puron, engineer at Silent Circle, believes that companies should support Android for Work in order to establish balanced control over data.
The users seem really excited about the new phone, but some of them are disappointed that this phone does not support Google Apps, even though Silent Circle is working on its own secure app store where the users will be able to download applications.
Silent Circle launched the first Blackphone in June last year. The mobile phone is a security-focused device that became pretty successful. More than a year later, the company announced the Blackphone 2 for the first time at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow in March 2015.
Silent Circle had also announced a new tablet called Blackphone+ at the Mobile World Congress, but for now there is no information on when that tablet will be released or at least available for pre-order.
