The climate change summit that is going to be held in Paris this Sunday and Barack Obama has been preparing for it for years. Obama wants to tackle climate change in a very serious manner, since he is very aware that this might be the only chance left to make a change for the better. Numerous reports released by experts throughout the years indicate that the planet is growing hotter with each passing year and things will not get better in 2016 either.
Obama is one of the people who have been paving the way for the Paris Climate Change Conference for years. Another 200 nations will be participating in this event to ensure the survival of our species. Obama made use of his executive power to cut down carbon emissions. This is part of a larger plan, which basically aims at making America an example of a country with reduced carbon emissions which maintains economic growth.
What is now important is that other countries in the world follow the same example and, in time, we will be able to reduce the waste that has been making the planet ill for more than a century. But this plan is not 100% failsafe because of two major reasons: the location in which the conference is held and the possible meddling of the Republicans in their continuous pursuit to make Obama look like the worst president America has ever had.
The main feature that politicians and environmentalists are disappointed with is an ambiguous term: change. People are simply concerned that, whatever Obama is doing, he is not bringing change to how we should tackle climate and how we could make things better in the years to come. This concern seems to be half logical and half emotional since Obama’s policy has strong points, but severe weaknesses as well.
Back in 2013, Obama came up with a very good plan that involved many procedures which could help cut off emissions. Sadly, even if millions of dollars were invested in the entire process, the major concern that everyone has regards the legislation. The legislation for cutting off gas emissions is poor and it does not look like it is going to see major improvements any time soon.
Obama wants to tackle climate change in a very serious manner. He himself admitted that solving this issue would increase his credibility and strengthen his legacy. Hopefully, after this weekend, we will see some legislation which will make his claim stronger and more credible.
