PlayStation Is Not Involved In Terrorism
What if someone told you that everything that happened on Friday night in Paris happened because of PlayStation 4? You would perhaps freak out, right? How could PlayStation get caught in terrorism? It didn’t, but there have been a great number of false claims circulating the internet recently, pointing fingers at a console that does nothing more than provide fun. Don’t get fooled. PlayStation is not involved in terrorism.
Some people in the world thought otherwise. It is enough to remind that, just a few days before the disaster that occurred in Paris, PlayStation was accused of being some sort of terrorist communication tool by a politician from Belgium. Forbes wanted to make the headlines, as usual, so they rushed out a story which mentioned that authorities found the PlayStation 4 responsible for these attacks.
Needless to say, Forbes put themselves together: the story was re-edited, all claims were deemed untrue and the story was pulled back. But things are not easily forgotten once they reach the internet. It probably takes around 30 minutes until the next article will come up. So it was that the PlayStation was deemed a terrorist tool that need to be dealt with immediately. Quite an interesting career path: from gaming and entertainment to life threatening tool.
The main issue with the PlayStation 4 is that keeping track of all the data that is being streamed through the devices is exceptionally hard. If people thought that Whatsapp was a hard thing to deal with, it is sufficient to say that the PlayStation 4 bring business to a whole new level. And the truth is that terrorists can use these devices. Whether they are aware of this or not, we do not know and the Belgian politician has no proof either.
The PlayStation 4, just like any other console out there, has an instant messaging system which enables players to keep track of each other. While it is possible that events such as these can occur, other devices and services can be blamed just the same. PlayStation is not involved in terrorism, but Forbes’ mistake is going to cost them a few blows to their image, especially now that the PlayStation finds itself in a great spot in terms of sales and popularity.
