
The woman who shot and killed her boyfriend in YouTube stunt used a 50 caliber Desert Eagle.
On Wednesday, 20-year-old Monalisa Perez stood a second time before the court to hear her sentence. Following the tragic death of her 22-year-old boyfriend in a 2017 YouTube stunt gone wrong, the woman was sentenced to spend 180 days in prison after she pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Perez Said YouTube Stunt Was Ruiz’s Idea, not Hers
As part of her court deal, Monalisa Perez agreed to plead guilty to the shooting death of Pedro Ruiz III, her boyfriend. The woman was sentenced to 180 days in prison, with the possibility of serving ten days on and off jail time.
Back in 2017, Monalisa and Pedro announced on their official YouTube channel that they would be staging a new stunt – one that’s very dangerous and potentially deadly. Come morning, Monalisa and her boyfriend left the house and set up two cameras in their front yard.
Before the tragedy occurred, the camera can be seen panning towards Perez who explained to the couple’s YouTube subscribers what she and Pedro were about to do.
According to the woman, the whole YouTube stunt was her boyfriend’s idea and that she agreed to do it after the man reassured her that it’s totally safe. Pedro placed a hardcover encyclopedia on his chest and asked the woman to take a few steps back and to shoot the book.
The last moments of the video show Perez pointing the gun at her boyfriend’s chest and firing a single round. When the authorities arrived, the man was already dead. The woman was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.
Conclusion
However, on Wednesday, the judge decided that the woman did not intentionally murder her boyfriend and that he was merely the aftermath of a miscalculate and idiotic prank.
As part of her sentence, the woman not allowed to own a gun nor to sell her story.
