Don’s squat in skinny jeans, doctors say
While skinny jeans are some of the most fashionable pieces of clothing young people love to wear, the tight pants put a woman’s health in danger.
According to health officials from Australia, a 35-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and received medical attention for four days after she squatted for hours dressed in skinny jeans.
The doctors said that the tight pants caused the woman muscle damage, nerve blockages and swelling and had to be hospitalized.
Dr. Thomas Kimber, from the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia, said that he was surprised to see that the woman had such severe nerve and muscle damage.
According to the doctors, the woman had spent the previous day helping a friend to move and she squatted for long periods of time while she was emptying cupboards.
The woman was wearing tight skinny jeans at the time, and while she was heading home, she felt her legs go numb and fell on the ground, unable to walk anymore.
Because she couldn’t feel her feet, the woman spent several hours on the ground, crawling her way to the hospital.
Dr. Kimber and his colleagues who were in charge of helping the woman recover wrote a report about the unusual case which they published in the online Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.
The doctors said this is not the first time skinny jeans caused nerve lesions, but the cases reported are usually about lesions in the groin.
The kind of nerve damage in the lower leg and muscle damage that the woman experienced is a first, according to the medical experts.
Dr. Kimber said that because the woman squatted for a long time while helping her friend to move, the nerves in her lower leg were compressed, which reduced the blood supply to the calf muscles.
Wearing skinny jeans while squatting only made it worse, the doctors added.
The woman received medical treatment for four days, and although she still experienced some weakness in her lower legs, she was able to walk out of the hospital and recovered completely in the next days.
Dr. Kimber said that people who wear non-stretch skinny jeans should not squat for long periods of time because they risk sever muscle and nerve damage.
According to Kimber, tight jeans that don’t stretch squeeze the muscles and the nerves of the leg. He joked that he doesn’t wear skinny jeans because he is too old for them.
