We Are Going To Look Into Jared Leto’s Joker
We are going to look into Jared Leto’s Joker, a brand new style that is going to be completely revealed next year. Leto’s portrayal of the Joker is a rather modern one, taking the killer psycho to a whole new level. And while the character that will be shown in the Suicide Squad is still far away, we have more than enough info to look at how Leto gave the character a new breath of life.
The Suicide Squad’s main focus is to stay centered on the villains that form the squad and how their actions will bring chaos into the world, but the Joker has always been the type of villain who stole everyone’s thunder. Having such a maniac on screen can totally divert attention from the main plot. Yet at the same time, the plot might be revolving 100% around him and that would explain why he is one of the most anticipated villains in 2016.
Images of Jared Leto were quite scarce. The fans never got to see too much of him until he had his full picture released on the cover of Empire this week. The new Joker version seems quite different than the one we were used to and while some elements feel quite intriguing, one cannot help but wonder if this is a Joker that we really want to see.
The basics were kept quite well: green hair, red lips, the white, disturbing makeup and the purple “suit”, but that which is new is also as haunting. The lips are not “stretched” towards the years anymore, the grin is gone and replaced with a dark, menacing face, the formal suit is gone and look at those shoes! Oh, and did we mention the tattoos? Not that you wouldn’t see them anyway, but they are quite an eye-taker.
While we are not completely aware of the Joker’s story in this movie, we are definitely introduced to a more asylum-looking Joker than the god of crime that freely roams the streets of Gotham. It will be interesting to see what the movie is going to make of the character and what his purpose will be in this universe.
But if we are going to look into Jared Leto’s Joker, we might also praise him for his great performance. The voice, that sick, haunting laughter and his style are details that are shaping tomorrow’s supervillain. When asking how it felt to portray the Joker, he said that it felt like “giving birth through his prickhole”. A little too graphical for us, but it certainly better than how Heath Ledger ended up.
