Two Teenagers Wanted To Attack Their High School
Two teenagers wanted to attack their high school in Virginia, but the authorities managed to apprehend them both before any harm was done. The attack would have been a very sinister one, with countless casualties, so it could be considered a miracle that law enforcement got in their way before anything happened. It is safe to assume that many lives were saved with this timely intervention.
The two teenagers wanted to announce a bomb threat at the Riverbend High School from Fredericksburg, where they were studying, and as the high school staff was taking all the appropriate measures to evacuate everybody safely, the two would shoot anybody they could. Even though these events did not occur, it is tragical to think that two boys, aged 15 and 17, would conceive such a thing.
The two are now being held in a juvenile detention center without permission to leave. They were also charged with conspiracy to commit murder and it is very likely that they will remain imprisoned for a long period of time. While there has been no official statement as to how the boys will be treated, it is very likely that they will go through some long and serious psychological procedures before they will be deemed good for release, supposing that will ever happen.
Roger Harries, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff, was very pleased with how the investigation was concluded and declared that it was a team effort. It was not only the law enforcement officials that played their part well, but the high school staff were also very cooperative and helped see that such an event would never be carried out.
When asked about the teens’ names, the sheriff did not want to give names. His reason was that he is not allowed to name any juvenile suspects. The only circumstance in which he would have been able to do so would have been if they were charged with a capital felony. Since that is not the case, the teenagers’ names are going to be kept confidential.
The two boys were found via social media by a sheriff’s deputy. Apparently, the first teenager was arrested on the 12th of October after the plot had been discovered and the other one had been found soon after. Authorities also found out that they had been planning the attack for a certain date, so that arose even more suspicion.
After learning that the two teenagers wanted to attack their high school, law enforcement checked their houses for evidence and they said that there was enough to charge them with conspiracy to commit murder. Although the case has been solved, the evidence found was not released for the press.
