A new warning has been launched, as two great white sharks were spotted in shallow waters, close to the coast of Massachusetts. Officials have previously announced the threat, as the predators seem to have appeared on July 28 near the area and were seen by John Chisholm of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, who is presently working with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.
Photos leaked on the internet a few days ago, showing the great predators silently and dangerously swimming underwater, very close to the swimming areas. The photos were captured by a photographer who shot the aerial view of the great white sharks.
As previous reports stated, sharks are driven to dive close to the shores. Cyntia Wigren, president of Atlantic White Shark Conservacy declared that an entire team of white sharks was spotted on Tuesday and got enough evidence for the scientists to identify them. It seems that the sharks were as close as a 25 miles from the coast.
This year, sharks seem to make a great impression on scientists, as no less than 6 exhibits were observed. Three of them are new to the eyes of experts, two were spotted this season and one was identified last season and located close to Chatham.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservacy is presently running the second year of an extensive study involving the great whites of Cape Cod. Recent footage reveals the massive white creatures approaching the shores, showing themselves in all their splendor.
One of the two recently spotted sharks was swimming along the shoreline, but no swimmers were taking long baths in the area at that time.
The conservancy is presently undertaking a study in an effort to quantify the seasonal white shark population and determine how many exhibits show themselves as repeat visitors to the cape. Last year, experts identified no less than 68 individual great whites. So far, we have two great whites that have remained faithful to the area.
Scientists are hoping to spot more great white creatures, as the season will only end in October.
