If you’ve always been scared that you won’t know what to do when your first child will cry, then you need to download this app.
Just when you thought that the world couldn’t come up with a stranger app, The Infant Cries Translator appeared on the market. The app that is able to tell what your baby’s crying means was developed by a team of Taiwanese researchers.
The Taiwanese researchers chose the National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin in order to record babies crying. The experiment took place for over two years and during this time, 100 babies were registered while crying. The 200,000 crying noises were then uploaded to a database. The researchers analyzed each crying and their frequency. They later distinguished small differences in the acoustics of the screams.
The app can identify the baby’s crying in approximately 15 seconds. According to the Taiwanese researchers, the diagnosis of the app is about 92% accurate for babies of maximum 2 weeks old. The older the baby is, the less accurate will the information be. The app is 84% accurate for the babies under two months and 77% for the babies that are four months old. Once the baby is six months old, the app is almost worthless due to the fact that the baby has been affected by its environment.
The app will tell if the baby is crying as a result of a wet diaper, pain, lack of sleep or hunger. The lead authors of the experiment, Doctor Chen Si-da and Chang Chuan-yu say that for now the app will only differentiate between these four cries. They said that they developed the app in order for the parents to feel more in control and less stressed about their newborn baby. They recommend the app for the parents that are expecting their first child. They believe that it could prove an extremely important and helpful tool for the parents all around the world.
As the app’s new database updates appear on a Cloud Drive, parents can make settings for their baby, based on feedback from other parents. If you are the parent of a newborn baby, then all you need to do is download the app, set your baby’s birth date and nationality. When the baby cries, you only need to record it for 10 seconds and then the cry will be uploaded to the Cloud Drive. After the differentiating will be done, the results will be transmitted to your phone. You will be able to verify if the analysis of the Infant Cries Translator app was correct. You will then be able to choose if you want to review the app.
An example of a couple who started using the app proves how useful it can be. The couple, who are in their forties said that they were afraid that they wouldn’t understand why their baby was crying. The father said that the app suggested why the baby was crying, making their new situation less stressful.
The app that is able to tell what your baby’s crying means is only 2,99$ and it can make the first months with your baby easier.
