Terminator: Genisys will continue, but it appears that it is going to take some time until we see the next movie coming into theaters. A Skydance official has made it clear that Terminator will return, only that the series needs some major readjustments before presenting itself to the public once again. With a story that dates back around 30 years ago, Terminator has great potential. Genisys just didn’t tap into it accordingly.
Dana Goldberg, the Skydance Media Chief Creative Officer, was kind enough to provide the evidence that was needed about the next movie: “I wouldn’t say on hold, so much as readjusting”. After the movie hit the theaters this year and the numbers were evaluated, it did not seem that Genisys would see the light ever again. Luckily, producers want to make the title more appealing to this generation.
Goldberg also claimed that the filming will not start in 2016, so anybody who was expecting a 2017 title might be disappointed. Fear not, according to Goldberg’s previous observations, we might see a movie coming out in 2018, but that is as far as we can go. Development will be shaped by how the public will view Terminator and not how it defined itself through the years.
The idea of a TV series has also not been kicked out the window just yet, since this type of project might be able to create a more immersive universe. The Terminator TV series, dubbed Sarah Connor Chronicles, featured Lena Headey as Sarah Connor and it had a good enough standing amongst Terminator fans. Not the best, but given the title’s challenges in our age, it did pretty well.
On top of everything, Emilia Clarke has expressed her interest in playing Sarah Connor once again. Clarke declared that “you’re not going to say no to Sarah Connor… you’re just not”. Clarke’s experience seems to have been a great one and getting back on stage with Pops is definitely something she can look forward to.
Clarke’s experience with Terminator also goes beyond her acting career since it was “something she was not supposed to watch”. It is very likely that the younger generation might feel the same when it comes to these movies. We all remember what it felt like to sneak in for a Terminator peek but our parents would sent us away.
Terminator: Genisys will continue, but it will do so only when it will be ready.
