Google has the key to your existence. It knows who you are, what you do, where you come from and where you are heading to. It can see this from your e-mail, your location settings, your searches on the engine and its social platform that steals a bit of personal info too. Because it has giant amounts of personal data, the tech giant has decided to wrap it up in a somewhat meaningful package and deliver it to you under the umbrella of a new concept.
Google will soon enable the users of its Maps software to keep track of all the places they have been with their smartphone. If you are interested in keeping oblivion away, Google is the best in doing that. Even though forgetfulness could help us close some chapters from the book of our lives, Google is here to tell us that everything we did left a mark somewhere and we can always be reminded about that.
Google presently owns a patent for indexing videos of your real world experiences and makes them searchable. The new option will be connected to the next version of Google Glass. Users will be able to record video experiences through a wearable computer and store it remotely for search at their convenience.
The service is cloud-based, as all users can send their videos recorded with Google Glass to their phones, which further deliver the videos to a server. The recordings will be tracked by keywords for specific moments users want to watch again. “It would essentially be like exporting one’s memories to the cloud”, as experts declare.
This could mean the start of a new era, an era where privacy basically disappears, as robots are enabled to record and store all our intimate moments, ultimately allowing us to see them once in a while. Our memories where designed to do that and we could lean on the sweet taste of remembering, revealed by our own minds. Now, everything related to the past will have an entirely new meaning, a “cinemascope” one, rather factual than emotional. Mental pictures have their role in our lives and they will soon be stolen from us by robots that will record with their own internal eye everything meaningful to us.
Google Glass will be designed to “feel”, through pre-programmed algorithms, when a significant moment takes place (it basically offers a verdict for meaning instead of us) it will document the event and file the video for future check-up. Google enables video archive of your real life experiences, as a consequence to its continuous endeavor to control and own a factual track of everything that happens in your life. Google users around the world, beware of Judgment Day!
