Samsung has announced its decision to push back the release of its upcoming round smarthwatch called Gear A, mostly because Apple Watch has just been launched and everyone is talking about it.
Samsung Gear A round smartwatch is expected to be released in the second part of 2015, and experts say it will most likely be shown at the IFA consumer electronics show that will be held in September.
At this event, Samsung will also reveal its much-anticipated smartphone the Galaxy Note 5.
According to tech sources, Samsung delayed the release of its round smartwatch so that the company can follow a perfect timetable with its other product releases.
The company has said before that it doesn’t want to hurry when it comes to launching the new Gear smartwatch, because it want to provides the user with a more than perfect product.
However, previous rumors had pointed out to the fact that Samsung was planning to launch the watch sometime in the first half of this year.
Unlike the previous models of Samsung smartwatches, the upcoming Gear A will be round-faced and will feature a bezel ring that can rotate. The exact purpose of this element was not made public, as of yet.
Some predict that the smartwatch will run on Tizen, which is Smasung’s own operating system, rather than the usual Android Wear.
If this turns out to be true, then the Samsung Gear A round smartwatch will most likely be compatible with other devices by Samsung.
Samsung decided to develop a round-faced smartwatch because round faces turned out to be more popular and users prefer it to square faces.
However, Apple Watch has a square face and the device is the most successful device on the smartwatch market, so experts assume that the trend of round-faced watches will not last for very long.
The current Samsung smartwatch, the Gear S features a curved 2.0 in Super AMOLED display and its operating system is Tizen.
Unlike most other smartwatches, Samsung Gear S can operate without needing to be connected to a smartphone.
Other features rumored by several tech blogs include a 14nm Exynos 7420 chip, a power button in the shape of a crown, a rotating bezel and wireless charging.
It has been reported that carriers like Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T will have the 3G models of Samsung Gear A smartwatch.
