The praying robber stole at least 18 pieces of clothing before running away.
Because no week should go by without any oddities from the world of crime, we give you the case of a man from New York who believes in God so much that he whispered a little prayer before robbing a New York clothing store. The entire ‘performance’ was caught on tape and the video made available to the public.
Praying Robber Breaks Two Window and Steals Clothing
In Ancient Greece, thieves and cutthroats would whisper a small prayer to Hermes before a big job. Oddly enough, in the Christian era, Saint Nicholas became the patron of thieves who would work under cover of darkness.
Centuries have passed, and it would appear that there are thieves out there who believe that someone up the sky shields them from the law if they pray hard enough. This seems to be the case of the praying robber, an unknown individual who broke into a New York clothing store and managed to steal about 18 items.
The robbery was captured on the store’s security camera and was later released by the NYPD.
In the first part of the video, the individual can be seen in front of the store mumbling something resembling a praying, making the sign of the cross, and kissing his hand. He does this about three times.
Next, the individual can be seen looking around for something sturdy enough to break the store’s glass door. He returns with a concrete slab which he uses to break the door. It takes two attempts.
Before entering the store, the man appears to be having issues keeping his balance, as a thin layer of ice was in front of the door. The camera inside the store reveals the man breaking a second glass door, stealing the items and running away from the scene.
