The new technologies of 2016

By 1 Comment

"OLED device"

In 2016 the technology market will be dominated by OLED screens, augmented reality and improved smartphones.

With the end of 2015 just around the corner, people are already thinking about what 2016 will bring. And for the high tech junkies and not only, their questions revolve around what the new year will bring in terms of technology. In this post we’ll talk about the new technologies of 2016, of which you may have heard rumors about.

In 2016, rollable displays are expected to be launched or at least announced. LG already announced the OLED device that can easily replace your phone or your tablet. All you need to do is imagine a device the size of a pen that has a rollable screen that allows you to watch movies, Skype and search indications on a map. The battery of the device can last for days. In the future LCD screens will be replaced by OLED ones, because of their distinct ability to be rolled and flattened.

Lately, smartphones have stopped being just communication devices. The processors of smartphones are now more powerful than ever and the MediaTek Helio X10 and the Helio X20 are expected to become more powerful in 2016.The Media Tek Helio X20 is the world’s first mobile processor with Tri-Cluster CPU architecture and is the only one that has ten processing cores. This proves that in 2016, smartphones will also have computing power.

With the development of the virtual assistants, they are expected to become a lot more smarter in 2016 and thus more used. With Siri and Cortana and being able to look up information, create calendar events, get directions, make reservations and send messages, everyone knows that they are good investments. Facebook is currently working on its own virtual assistant, called M. It has been reported that Google is working on a search engine that will be virtually-assisted.

In 2016 we are expecting to see more augmented and virtual reality. In 2015 the platform for these was created and in 2016 they are expected to be seen on the market as well. The augmented reality was used in showrooms in order to show a 360 degree view of the car, including its interior mechanisms. This was possible with the help of HoloLens, which was designed by Microsoft. HoloLens was the first holographic computer that enabled the use of high-definition holograms.

We’ll need to understand the important role of technology in our lives and the way it shapes us, and we’ll also need to learn how to make the best of the new technologies of 2016.
