Most Desired Halloween Costume Is Harley Quinn
This year’s most desired Halloween costume is Harley Quinn. No doubt, Batman fans will be thrilled to hear about this and it is also interesting to think that the costume that everybody wants is a criminal’s. A Batman costume is totally understandable. Superman? Yes, who wouldn’t want to be the most powerful person in the world? Joker? Quite a flashy character. But Harley? Something is definitely going on.
In case you do not know who Harley Quinn is, she was a former psychiatrist in the Batman universe who was working in the Arkham Asylum attempting to “cure” mentally ill patients. Everything changed when Harley met the Joker. She fell in love with him, helped him escape and they are a permanent team, bringing only chaos and destruction in Gotham.
Harley’s image has been shaped differently throughout the years, starting from a childish clown costume approach to a more sexy down-to-earth style. While in the 90s cartoons she was portrayed with a clown costume, Harley emerged as a more modern character with skirts, tight leather jeans and appealing cleavages as well.
Harley Quinn might be getting the spotlight this year because the latest Batman game released this summer, Arkham Knight, and the movie Suicide Squad that is set to hit theaters in summer 2016. She has always been an interesting character, but not many people have expected her to take the spotlight in such a manner. It’s just her lucky year, apparently.
Experian Marketing Services’ List exploded with characters from cartoon universes like Disney, Marvel and DC. US alone scored around 1000 variations of the “costume” keyword. People really want to party hard for Halloween this year or they want a ton of free candy.
And it looks like “harley quinn” got first prize for the most sought after costume on the 10th of October 2015, approximately 2.10% of the searchers being directed towards her. The number two spot was taken by “evie descendants” from Disney, but her search share was way behind Harley’s, at around 1.2% share,
John Fetto, the senior analyst from Experian Marketing Services, has concluded that this phenomenon “reflects an increase interest in comic characters, Cosplay, and Comic-Con.” This could also imply that Harley is not the only character that we will be seeing a dozen times at Comic Con in the years to come, other comic characters might emerge as well.
This year’s most desired Halloween costume is Harley Quinn, but who will be here to take her place next year?
