Between Valentine’s Day and Summer Break there are strong winds, snow and many layers of clothes. But wait, there is a solution to this winter blues just around the corner! The Mardi Gras is just what your frosty soul needs right now.
The spicy heartfelt Cajun food offered at Fat Tuesday (what the Mardi Gras actually means in French) will definitely bring a bit of spring into your heart and stomach. And with so many options to choose from, you might need a bit of guidance. Luckily we’re here.
Besides the already popular The Bayou, Liliana’s or Louisianne’s, there are a few newcomers in the Cajun local business that need to be checked out.
- Essen Haus & Come Back In
This out of the ordinary German bar decided to lose the lederhosen this Fat Tuesday and offer a few Creole specials. The menu consists of chicken jambalaya, some yummy seafood gumbo and last but not least, po’ boys. The menus also come with special drinks served according to traditional Creole recipes.
All this great food will be served in an atmosphere tailored to your festive mood as live music will be played throughout the night.
Also, happy hour has been extended until after sunset. Need we say more?
- The Brink Lounge
Not really into eating tonight? Well how about some proper dancing? The Brink Lounge prepared a special night full with French jazzy tunes brought to you by three bands. The Cajun Strangers will play in the opening, at 7 p.m., followed by the Prairie Bayou. The Bar decide to save the best for last as the French slack key band Mal-O-Dua will be closing this memorable night.
All the dancing and Mardi Gras spirit will make your stomach rumble at one point. Not to worry, the Brink has prepared a few Cajun dishes that will satisfy any Mardi Gras-loving attendee. And who can say no to a piece of king cake after so much dancing?
As we don’t want to leave you without the joys of exploring new locations, we will leave the rest of the Cajun food paradises up to the explorer that lies within you. Have fun!
