Will all the hype about the Apple Smartwatch, it seemed that the world had forgotten about the iPhone. But with results of the second-quarter earnings out this Monday, it looks like iPhone still holds the biggest sales for Apple with a staggering increase of 33% .
All of this was possible due to the boost of iPhone sales in China, that Apple has been working on for quite some time now with the help of China Mobile. As the results were bound to kick in at some point, they came at the right time to make Apple the it company of the moment.
Everybody has their eyes on them, either to find out what the Apple Watch sales are, or to gaze upon the millions and millions that they have earned in this second quarter. Undoubtedly, they are the champions.
Total earnings amounted to $58 billion, that means they increased by 27%. And compared to last year’s $45.6 billion, Apple made a profit of $13.6 billion, which is still much bigger than last year’s of only $10.2 billion.
But what everybody wants to know is what exactly generated this out-of-this-world boost in total sales. Was it the Apple Watch or was it China? This is what financial buffs want to find out.
The Apple Watch is the talk of the nation at the moment, since it hit the markets last Friday. Despite the pricy nature of this high-tech accessory, which ranges from $349 for the basic aluminum plated version to a mind-blowing $17,000 for the 18-quarat gold plated version, online pre-orders have boomed.
The exact number has snowballed since the Apple Watch advertisements reached the internet leading to a gargantuan amount, but Apple will not make it public just yet. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO is planning to keep the company in the public eye for a long time to come.
So, for now, they’re wowing everybody with their sky-high numbers, then they’re going to keep us watching, by basking in the glory of their smart-watch. But in the meantime, it’s still Apple in the news with their unprecedented success in China.
It just might have been the Chinese new year that made the iPhone 6 the best gift for the average Chinese and for Apple itself. Sales in greater China have increased by an astonishing 71% and for the first time ever recorded in Apple history, sales in China have been higher than those in Europe.
To sum up, Apple did it again! No other company has every beaten them yet when it comes to surprises and sale-boosting strategies. So, beyond any doubt, it’s Apple that we will keep hearing about all throughout 2015. What will they think of next?
