On Tuesday, a Connecticut judge sentenced a 34-year-old Hartford mother to 11 years in prison. The woman pleaded guilty to starving to death her teenage autistic son. The child’s biological father said that the woman should “rot in Hell” for what she’s done.
Hartford Mother Chained Fridge and Pantry to Starve Autistic Boy
This Tuesday, Katiria Tirado, a 34-year-old mother, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to manslaughter in early March.
According to court documents, Tirado was arrested and charged after Matthew Tirado, her 17-year-old old autistic son, was found dead in the woman’s Hartford home.
During Tirado’s trial, prosecutors showed how Matthew spent his last months of life. Tirado, who according to her estranged husband harbored quiet hate since the day he was born, deliberately starved the teenager to death.
The police investigation revealed that during his last days of life, Matthew had been seen rummaging through dumpsters for food. Coroner’s report revealed that the teenager ate only condiments and oil.
Upon being questioned about the teenager’s appearance, the Harford mother the authorities that her son has a high metabolism.
However, the woman’s testimony did not account for the boy’s cuts, bruises, and his weight.Furthermore, according to the doctors who tended to Matthew, the teenager weighed only 84 pounds.
The investigators also discovered that the woman waited a while before calling an the ambulance.
Moreover, a phone SMS history obtained by the prosecutors reveals that on the 14th of February 2014, the Hartford mother messaged her sister about her son vomiting a blood-like substance.
In addition, Tirado’s phone history revealed that the woman waited 36 minutes before calling 911.
Gail P. Hardy, Hartford’s State Attorney and a prosecutor in Tirado’s case, declared that this is the most horrific case she had witnessed in her entire career.
Pedro Gomez, Matthew’s father, told the magistrates that the woman hated her child.
