Stephen Kyle Goodlett, the former principal of a Kentucky high school, has recently been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for posting nude pictures of students on Russian-based pornographic websites. Goodlett managed to get ahold of compromising pictures after confiscating a student’s smartphone during classed.
Former Kentucky Principal Saved Pictures on Thumb Drives
According to court documents, Stephen Kyle Goodlett used his influence as a high school principal in order to obtain compromising pictures of his female students. In 2013, while still the principal of the LaRue County High School, Goodlett confiscated the smartphone of a 15-year-old female student.
Several weeks later, the teen found nude pictures of her posted on a Russian-based pornographic website which, allegedly trades sensitive material like child porn. According to the teen, before the former Kentucky principal confiscated her phone, she snapped a couple of nude pictures of herself with the intent of sharing her with her boyfriend.
After the compromising pictures surfaced on the Internet, the teen went straight to the authorities who, in turn, traced them back to Goodlett. Following a house search, the authorities discovered several thumb drives filled with pornographic material with children and the student’s photos among them.
Goodlett was shortly taken into custody and charged with 60 counts of possessing and distributing child pornography. Following the man’s arrest, the high school’s administration decided to terminate his contract in 2016.
On Thursday, the former Kentucky principal appeared before a Louisville court to answer for the charges. The man pled guilty to all counts and apologized to the court and the victim. Before receiving his sentence, Goodlett declared that what he did is morally reprehensible and that he deserves his punishment.
