Facebook Moments Converts Shared Photos into Music Videos

Facebook Moments Converts Shared Photos into Music Videos

Facebook rolled out the first major update for its recently released photo sharing app Facebook Moments. After the update, you can use the app to create short clips from the photos you shared with your friends.

The short video is created automatically but you can still personalize and edit it before posting it back on Facebook. The new update could also make Moments more popular among the users that ignored the site’s photo-syncing option to this moment.

Additionally, Facebook Moments adds background music to the short clip, which needs to contain at least six photos. You can choose from nearly a dozen different music types. You can later choose to post the video on Facebook with a single tap on your phone’s screen.

The video will be available to all your friends with whom you already shared the photos with, but you can also choose to make it public. The concept of making a short clip from photos is not new. Google Photos has a similar feature, and so does Flipagram.

The new feature is beneficial to both users and Facebook. Users can now organize and easily share the photos they are hoarding on their smartphones, while Facebook can make its video video-sharing service even more popular. So far, the social networking site has more than 4 billion video views on a daily basis.

Plus, the video sharing feature allows Facebook to make more money from ads. That’s why the site constantly improved the service with various features including better analytics, News Feed integration, ‘Watch Later’ option, and live streaming.

Facebook Moments is the work of Creative Labs team. That team also designed Facebook Rooms, Facebook Groups, and Mentions. Some of these features were popular while others were quickly forgotten, but the team tries to constantly innovate.

Yet, Moments may be the next thing since many non-tech people already use it or reported that they have seen it at work on Facebook and like it. In App Store the app is listed on the 107 position, while on Google Play it is on the 19th spot and may get even higher with the new update. Nevertheless, since its official release, the app’s overall ranking dropped, which may be worrisome to its developers.

On the other hand, Moments is more popular than other Facebook apps such as Slingshot or Rooms who aren’t anywhere to be found within the first 1,500 positions on both sites.

You can download the updated version of the app from the App Store, or Google Play. The app can currently support 34 languages.
