Until now everybody knew that nuts are great for our health because they have a great nutritional value. Nuts are considered to be the best snack; they are tasty, have low saturated fats and are really nutritious. Now, a new study shows that nuts are even better than we previously believed.
This superfood is now getting even better because some tests showed that it can lower the risk of diseases. Researchers were able to find out that nuts can reduce the risk of stroke, cancer, and coronary heart disease. They mentioned that eating nuts daily might reduce the risk of other diseases but it is not proven yet.
In order to conduct this study, researchers from universities from Norway and the United Kingdom analyzed other tests that were made prior to this survey. They analyzed almost 30 studies in order to prove that nuts can lower the risk of some diseases. The studies were from all over the world including Asia, Australia, and Europe.
This study includes more than 800,000 participants and more than 12,000 cases of coronary heart disease, almost 9,300 stroke cases, and more than 18,000 cases of cancer. The researchers were able to demonstrate that people who eat nuts daily have a lower risk of developing certain diseases.
Of course, the study included almost all types of nuts including pine nuts, macadamia nuts, walnuts, and hazelnuts. The important factor in this study is that people need to eat nuts daily in order to lower the risk of developping a serious medical condition.
This study showed that 20 grams of nuts a day can reduce some of these diseases by 30%. This is an important step because people are depending on pills to reduce the risk and not on food. This study revealed that people who consume nuts daily have a lower risk of developing CVD and cancer.
“Nuts and peanuts are high in fiber, magnesium, and polyunsaturated fats – nutrients that are beneficial for cutting cardiovascular disease risk and which can reduce cholesterol levels,” mentioned the leader of the study, Dagfinn Aune.
This study is important especially for people who know that they have a higher risk of developing these diseases. They can try to maintain a healthy diet and eat nuts daily in order to decline their risk.
